Use Your Power for Purpose
The Director, Project Management, within Clinical Immunology & Diagnostics (CID) is responsible for leading project management across CID's portfolio, ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of strategic initiatives that support Pfizer's vaccine clinical development programs. Reporting to the head of CID Operations, this role provides leadership and oversight for complex, cross-functional projects, including assay development efforts, AI-enabled solutions, operational excellence initiatives, and other organizational priorities. The Director drives portfolio execution by establishing project management standards, managing risks and dependencies, aligning stakeholders, tracking progress against milestones, and ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes. This leader also provides people management for project management talent, including coaching, performance management, workload prioritization, and career development. The role serves as a key integrator across functions, translating strategy into actionable plans and enabling consistent, high-quality execution across the organization.
What You Will Achieve
In this role, you will:
  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives across assay development, operational excellence, AI-enabled solutions, and organizational priorities, ensuring work progresses from planning through implementation and sustainment.
  • Lead end-to-end project management for CID strategic initiatives, translating portfolio priorities into clear plans, milestones, deliverables, and execution rhythms.
  • Serve as the central integrator across scientific, technical, operational, and business stakeholders to align priorities, clarify ownership, enable decisions, and drive follow-through.
  • Establish and apply consistent project management standards, including governance, integrated timelines, risk and issue management, dependency tracking, and status reporting.
  • Facilitate governance forums, leadership reviews, and cross-functional working sessions to maintain alignment, accelerate decisions, and remove barriers to execution.
  • Track project performance and communicate progress, risks, decisions, and business impact through clear executive updates, dashboards, and portfolio snapshots.
  • Define and monitor measurable outcomes for key initiatives, including cycle-time improvements, resource efficiencies, quality improvements, adoption metrics, and other business-value measures.
  • Lead and sustain key organizational forums and capability-building programs, including the mentorship program, manager forum, director forum, and AI fluency programs, to strengthen alignment, knowledge sharing, engagement, and adoption of new ways of working.
  • Manage and develop direct reports by setting clear expectations, providing coaching and feedback, supporting performance and career development, and ensuring appropriate workload prioritization across project management responsibilities.

Qualifications
Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree with 10 to 14 years of experience; OR Master's degree with 9 to 12 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex, cross-functional projects or programs end-to-end, including formal project/program management practices.
  • Experience managing stakeholders and influencing without direct authority across multiple functions.
  • Strong track record of driving execution and delivering measurable outcomes on time.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing colleagues or direct reports, including performance management, prioritization, and career development support.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with experience designing and leading cross-functional workshops, leadership discussions, and decision-making forums that drive alignment and action.
  • Proven delivery of operational analytics/reporting and executive-ready dashboards
  • Experience using AI tools at work to improve productivity and streamline workflows

Nice to Have
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or another highly regulated environment.
  • PhD degree with 7 to 9 years of experience
  • Familiarity with assay development, analytical development, or laboratory operations.
  • Experience designing and running mentorship programs, communities of practice, or leadership forums.
  • Working literacy in AI with practical experience using AI tools at work to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and support decision-making.
  • Project/program certification (PMP, PgMP).
  • Experience in forecasting and scenario analysis to support planning, prioritization, and risk management.
  • Advanced skills in building AI agents, dashboarding and automation tools (Tableau, Power BI, Power Automate or similar)

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $176,600.00 to $294,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
