Estimator - Project Manager - Business Development

Company: R and D Sweeping and Asphalt Maintenance

Location: Rock Springs, WY (relocation assistance provided)

R and D Sweeping and Asphalt Maintenance is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to help estimate, coordinate, and manage paving and asphalt replacement projects while supporting customer relationships and business development efforts.

Position Summary

The Project Manager / Estimator will oversee projects from estimate through completion, communicate with customers, coordinate crews and materials, prepare bids, and identify new sales and marketing opportunities. The ideal candidate has strong asphalt industry knowledge, estimating experience, project management experience, and the ability to manage multiple jobs while maintaining quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate estimates for asphalt maintenance, paving, patching, and related projects.
  • Review job scopes, site conditions, material needs, labor requirements, equipment needs, and project timelines.
  • Manage projects from bidding and scheduling through completion, closeout, and billing support.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal crews.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Track project costs, change orders, quantities, and job progress to support profitability and accurate reporting.
  • Assist with business development by identifying leads, following up with customers, and promoting company services.
  • Visit job sites as needed to review work, confirm project readiness, resolve issues, and support field operations.
  • Promote safe work practices and help ensure projects meet company standards and customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the asphalt industry required.
  • Estimating experience required, including the ability to prepare bids, calculate quantities, and understand labor, material, and equipment costs.
  • Project management experience required, including scheduling, customer communication, budget awareness, and job coordination.
  • Knowledge of asphalt maintenance methods, materials, equipment, and construction practices is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read plans, assess job sites, and understand project scope and specifications.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and basic computer programs for estimates, scheduling, communication, and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Travel Requirements

  • 200 mile service radius from Rock Springs, WY
  • Home nightly
  • Some travel is required for job site visits, customer meetings, estimates, and project coordination.
