Summary:

The Project Finance Analyst will support a team of finance professionals who underwrite, model, negotiate and structure equipment service agreements and financings, including debt, lease, and tax credit financings. The position requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, constantly collaborating with various internal and external teams to meet transaction deadlines. The individual would ultimately be responsible for managing day-to-day execution of these transactions and performing project-specific related analysis to optimize asset pricing.

Essential Function: Project Modeling/ Underwriting
  • Own every aspect of the project financial model, including becoming intimately familiar with the underwriting, potential capital permutations and value levers
  • Analyze financial results and communicate performance and pricing impacts internally, sharing recommendations for project return improvements
  • Manage various tracker and tool updates and dissemination, as needed
Essential Function: Transaction Support
  • Support (and eventually lead) various aspects of a project financing or tax credit transfer, including but not limited to:  Modeling; Due Diligence; Dataroom Management; Term Sheet and Transaction Document Support; Third Party (Independent Engineer and Appraisal) Reports; Project Closing activities
  • Support deal lead on marketing of Highland’s project portfolio and capital structure to financiers
  • Support transaction team in various approval stage-gate and committee review processes
Essential Function: Cross-Functional Support and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Origination, providing transactional support throughout the deal cycle
  • Work closely with Origination, Market Development and Fleet Operations teams to understand, monitor, and improve the various construction, operational, and federal/state grant inputs to the model
  • Prepare financial analyses to inform decision-making for Origination and Fleet Operations
  • Support legal structuring and bankability of agreements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years in Infrastructure, Transportation, or Renewables/Power, finance, or capital markets
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, including experience with financial modeling
  • Proficiency with AI productively tools, such as Claude, to support workflows and drive efficiency
  • Work and prior transactional experience in project finance, asset-backed finance, M&A, investment banking, municipal finance, project underwriting, real estate, energy, insurance, private equity or venture capital
  • Understanding of return metrics, including NPV, IRR, MOIC
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and financial statements
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to present complex information succinctly and efficiently to audiences internal and external
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders on tight timelines
