The main difference between a Project Engineering Intern and a Mechanical Engineering Intern lies in their focus areas. Project Engineering Interns typically work on managing construction or industrial projects, coordinating between teams, and supporting project execution. Mechanical Engineering Interns focus more on design, analysis, and testing of mechanical systems. Both roles require engineering coursework and offer valuable industry experience, but their work environments and specific responsibilities differ based on industry needs.

What engineering jobs pay $500,000?

High-paying engineering roles such as petroleum engineers, aerospace engineers, and certain senior software or systems engineers can earn $500,000 or more annually, especially with experience, advanced skills, and in leadership positions. These roles often require specialized expertise, advanced degrees, and sometimes work in high-demand industries or locations with premium compensation packages.

What does a project engineer intern do?

A project engineering intern supports project managers and engineers by assisting with planning, scheduling, and coordinating engineering tasks. They often review technical documents, update project documentation, and use tools like AutoCAD or MS Project to track progress, gaining practical experience in project execution and engineering processes.

How much do project engineer interns make?

Project engineering interns typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on location, industry, and level of education. Interns often work part-time during the school year or full-time in the summer, gaining experience with engineering tools and project management software.

Is $20 an hour good for an internship?

For a Project Engineering Intern, $20 an hour is generally considered competitive, especially for entry-level positions that may require basic engineering skills and knowledge of tools like AutoCAD or MATLAB. Internships often pay between minimum wage and $20-$25 per hour, depending on location, industry, and the intern's educational level. Factors such as workload, responsibilities, and whether the internship offers professional development opportunities also influence the adequacy of the pay.

What You Will Be Doing
As a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern, you will join our mechanical group to support the development of next generation clean energy solutions, gaining hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and validation for our battery energy storage system (BESS) product line. You will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to real product development efforts that advance our progress toward a sustainable energy future.
What You Will Do
  • Support the design and development of mechanical components, modules, and assemblies for next generation BESS products.
  • Assist with prototyping, testing, and validation activities in the lab and production environments.
  • Contribute to 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design studio, hardware engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations.
  • Support documentation efforts including drawings, design records, and test reports.
  • Take ownership of a defined project that delivers tangible value to the team by the end of the internship.

What You Will Learn
