Job description

We are seeking a Senior Building Engineer to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and functionality of a commercial property portfolio, including historic, mixed-use, office, and retail properties. Reporting to the Chief Building Engineer, this role ensures the efficient and safe operation of building systems while managing maintenance staff, coordinating vendor work, and supporting tenant satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building Systems Oversight and Preventive Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while implementing and tracking preventive maintenance schedules through work order systems.
  • Tenant Service and Team Supervision: Oversee tenant work orders and requests, ensuring timely resolution with clear communication, while managing and mentoring junior engineers and maintenance staff to maintain high performance and professionalism.
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Assist in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and quality assurance.
  • Project Coordination: Support capital projects, tenant improvements, and smaller-scale projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Compliance & Emergency Preparedness: Ensure regulatory compliance, maintain fire/life safety standards, and provide after-hours on-call support.
