Job description

Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

As a Trainee Operations Technician, you will gain training and development to pursue an exciting career at Woodfibre LNG. Trainee Operations Technicians are part of the Operations shift teams, perform surveillance of plant equipment and will be Trained in all aspects of the LNG operation and supporting operations processes, relevant Management Systems and HSSE.

Key Responsibilities

As a Trainee Operations Technician, you will:

  • Participate in daily pre-start team meetings.
  • Have a strong Commitment to HSSE and undertake Site HSSE Inductions and Safety programs.
  • Complete Training programs as per the Training Plan for a Trainee Operations Technician.
  • Attend Fire Fighting and Emergency Response Training.
  • Train to Operate and monitor process systems and equipment associated with gas processing, utilities, storage and loading, and safety systems.
  • Carry out as directed general surveillance & routine inspections of equipment to understand proper operation, learn to check for malfunctions and learn how to arrange maintenance where required.
  • Learn to read and interpret Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrument diagrams and Cause and Effects Matrix’s.
  • Train and participate in the PTW system including preparing and isolating equipment for safe access for maintenance crews.
  • Learn how to analyze samples and readings, observe gauges and instruments on equipment, and record data.
  • Gain experience in interaction with other work groups and contractors through use of the permit to work system.
  • Support the shift team as part of Commissioning and Start Up team.

Requirements

Required Experience:

Trainee Operations Technicians are required to have:

  • Grade 12 Diploma.
  • Preferred a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in an industrial process company.
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate.
  • Preferred EOCP Water Ticket.
  • Demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude.

Additional Requirements:

  • Reside in Squamish or Lower Mainland Vancouver.
  • Prepared to work 12 hr shiftwork on a rotational basis.
  • Be motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
  • Accepts responsibility and demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of tasks and targets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Physically able to carry out operations field tasks in the facility.

Benefits
