Mechanical Engineer

Salas O’Brien is an employee‑owned engineering firm dedicated to delivering high‑impact solutions across a broad spectrum of industries, including data centers, healthcare, education, and clean energy.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will operate within a fast‑paced, multi‑discipline team, focusing on the design and implementation of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovations. Responsibilities include leading design, providing technical oversight, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, and guiding junior team members.

Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical system designs based on scope of work and client requirements.
  • Conduct engineering design, evaluation, and planning for a variety of building types.
  • Perform load and energy calculations using software such as IES.
  • Survey existing buildings and document mechanical systems.
  • Select equipment based on engineering calculations and analysis.
  • Prepare detailed specifications, design documents, reports, and studies.
  • Research code compliance and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Provide construction administration services, including site visits, submittal review, and RFI responses.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Lead project teams and serve as the primary client contact.
  • Assist in procuring new work, developing client relationships, and participating in project interviews.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 4–8 years of HVAC system design experience.

  • Experience with Revit and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel as required.
