Job description

As a Project Engineer at Centrica Business Solutions you will provide technical expertise and support during pre and post construction stages of solar photovoltaic (PV) battery storage projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with Operations and Project Development staff to structure solutions for customers’ needs.

Our Project Engineers contribute to the team by:

  • Designing and engineering commercial and small utility-scale solar PV, BESS, and electrical construction projects. Ensuring designs comply with local building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA fire codes and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Auditing sites as needed for systems – installation suitability, environmental limitations, structural limitations, electrical infrastructure, array placement and general feasibility.
  • Creating complete construction drawing sets (plan views, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications) for permit and installation.
  • Working with Project Development to specify system components, including panels/modules, inverters, racking, batteries (if applicable), and balance-of-system materials.
  • Establishing design specifications and scopes of work for Engineers of Record (EOR).
  • Supporting the development of Scopes of Work associated with equipment selection, installation subcontractors, and engineering consultants as needed.

The core components needed to be successful in this role are (i.e. must haves):

  • An Associates or Bachelor’s degree Preferred in Electrical, Renewables, Engineering, Energy, or Mechanical disciplines.
  • 3+ years of work experience in Electrical Engineering, Solar Development or Construction of renewable energy systems.
  • Experience using Solar Design and Modeling Software – Preferred Helioscope, Energy ToolBase, and or PV Syst.
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Valid Driver’s License; Travel required with employee’s automobile

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000.00-$110,000.00 + bonus + benefits.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location and expectations during the hiring process.
