Job description

Rutherford Contracting is a leading construction company specializing in ICI Buildings, Site Development, Facilities Management and Construction Management. With a commitment to excellence and safety, we deliver high-quality projects to our clients.


We are currently looking for a Project Coordinator to join our team! Under the direction of the Project Manager, provide construction management assistance in the execution of contracted projects. Augment the efforts of other staff when requested and as required. The purpose of this role is developmental in nature, and tasks increase in complexity with tenure.


This is an existing position that has become available within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

•    Perform all administrative duties as requested by the Project Manager and required of the project
•    Ensure safety on site is a priority
•    Maintain good project reference on all paperwork and in communication
•    Ensure all project documentation is assembled and submitted as required
•    Ensure finished projects are of acceptable quality
•    Ensure Project Start Up Tasks are completed and documentation is properly submitted
•    Generate, manage, and maintain project documentation
•    Facilitate the communication of written and verbal project information between all affected parties
•    Monitor contract for changes to scope and price
•    Ensure that monthly progress invoices are completed
•    Maintain accurate and updated to-do lists for all current tasks/projects
•    Ensure substantial performance certificates are applied for, received, advertised and holdback invoices are issued promptly
•    Review and approve or resolve discrepancies on invoices and progress claims as directed by Project Manager
•    Pre-review/approve job sheets and subcontractor invoices for relevant projects to facilitate Project Manager approval
•    Attend site meetings with project personnel and clients and/or consultants
•    Visit jobsites with the Project Manager and ensure construction is moving along according to schedule and specifications
•    Pricing procurement from suppliers and subcontractors


Desired Skills and Experience:
•    A technical diploma (i.e. C.E.T) or undergraduate civil engineering degree (i.e. Bachelor of Engineering)
•    1-3 years of experience in the ICI sector (preferred)
•    Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications – MS Project, Word, Excel, Outlook
•    Confident individual who is hard-working and eager to learn
•    Possess a valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle
