Job Purpose

To lead and oversee highly complex engineering projects ensuring that work delivered and materials used are in full compliance with safety, engineering, and applicable Codes and Standards.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans multiple highly complex projects simultaneously, tracking and delivering them on time and within budget.
  • Leads group of project engineers, engineering consultants and technicians, exercising considerable independence in decision making process.
  • Supervises the implementation of the design, preparation of construction plans, design improvement, specifications and timetable activities, and overall construction of projects.
  • Oversees the acquisition of field data.
  • Develops and recommends standard operating procedures and performance standards utilized by the Division.
  • Monitors operations and activities in the field to help assure standard operating procedures are followed and performance standards are met.
  • Reviews project documentation and reports prepared by divisional staff for accuracy and completeness.
  • Handles requests for information, service or complaints, or makes referrals to appropriate staff in a timely and concerned manner that reflects an effort to resolve any arising issues while at the same time acting responsibly on behalf of m2e.
  • Models and strictly adheres to m2e standards, policies, and project schedules.
  • Informs, in a timely manner, Department Head regarding any conflicts/issues that relate to his/her work.
  • Develops and writes effective proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.
  • Develops and effectively delivers presentations to critical/high level customers.
  • Responsible for budgets, proposal preparation, bid implementation, manpower estimates (immediate and long-range), and ensuring on-time delivery of projects.
  • Drives team development making learning a required assignment for all employees.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or documented combination of education and professional experience in related engineering field.
  • Active Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license via examination or active registration in another state with the ability to reciprocate to Florida within six months of beginning employment.
  • Valid contractor license (building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing) preferred.
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required.

Minimum Experience

  • 6+ years of pre-or-post degree work experience, which must have involved construction, design, inspection or estimating, and budgeting.
  • 4+ years of forensic engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in the field.

Physical Demands*

Necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively:

  • Ability to sit with back at a 90-degree angle for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to look at a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to stand upright for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas (uneven terrain, exposure to outdoor weather elements)
  • Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, laying, crawling, and twisting required up to 30% of the time in this role.
  • Must be able to ride in a hoist and/or swing stage.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to use right and left foot for repetitive movements as in operating controls or levers.
  • Full dexterity of wrists and fingers required with repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to see near, in the distance, color, depth, and range.

 *Safety equipment, including but not limited to hard hat, OSHA approved footwear, safety glasses and safety vests, is always required while performing job functions on active construction sites. Safety gloves, ear plugs, and safety harness will be issued when appropriate.

 
*Riding in a hoist and/or in a swing stage to be performed under strict adherence to the OSHA standards. Climbing ladders and scaffolds to be performed under strict adherence to the OSHA standards.
