Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) is recruiting for a Director, Project Controls to be located in New Brunswick, NJ or Springhouse, PA.

Role summary

The Director, Project Controls is accountable for working with project teams and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with J&J Worldwide Procedures and E&PS project controls guidelines working toward the delivery of projects on schedule, within approved funding, and meeting client satisfaction.

This role is responsible for driving standardization, communicating best practices, and supporting implementation of E&PS Project Controls efforts during Business Need through Execution. Key support will include implementation of early estimating, 21 Tab Cost Reporting and 4UPs, integrated Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) schedules and establishment of project change control.

A suitable candidate for this role will have an extensive knowledge base of engineering/construction project controls: strong personal leadership with demonstrated proficiency collaborating with multiple levels of the organization including senior leaders; Strong networking and relationship building skills. Proven experience driving progress and remaining focused under ambiguous and complex situations.Ability to independently plan, prioritise, co-ordinate, manage and execute assigned tasks.

Key relationships include project managers, project teams, E&PS and affiliate senior management, procurement, and finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role is responsible for driving standardization, communicating best practices, and supporting implementation of E&PS Project Controls efforts during Business Need through Execution. Key support will include implementation of early estimating, 21 Tab Cost Reporting and 4UPs, integrated Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) schedules and establishment of project change control.
  • Provide key liaison between Finance, Procurement, Engineering & Project Management
  • On critical major capital projects, prepare monthly reports to E&PS and affiliate senior management that accurately reflect status against funding authorizations and target schedules; and that identify key accomplishments, critical issues and potential areas of concern
  • Assist Project Directors in preparation of Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs). Work with J&J affiliates to acquire funding approvals including facilitation of Cost Risk Assessments using Monte Carlo Software
  • Assist in establishing, maintaining and implementing communications to increase compliance awareness and promote improvement of compliance issues across the business
  • Evaluate A/E & CM / Contractor performance with respect to cost control, schedule management, progress measurement and change management
  • Support the procurement and management of outside project control consulting services
  • Gather / Analyze key benchmark data
  • Assist in the development of project execution planning (PEP)
  • Ensure E&PS cloud-based collaboration system (FORMA) is utilized in accordance with established guidelines.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Management is required

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of 10-12 years of project controls in a related industry directly supporting the implementation of capital projects
  • 5+ years of experience managing staff
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering / construction projects controls and project execution
  • Proficiency in Oracle Primavera Cloud, MS Project, & Excel

Preferred:

  • Experience in an FDA regulated industry
  • Experience with Monte Carlo Cost analysis

Other:

  • This position will require up to 50% domestic and international travel
  • This role will report to the Sr. Director Project Controls

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation -120 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year
