Position Overview:

The R&D Director for Cementing Services will be responsible for leading a team to develop innovative cementing solutions that meet the evolving needs of the oil and gas industry. This role will focus on driving new slurry development, improving existing products, and exploring emerging technologies in oil & gas well cementing. The R&D Director will work closely with the operations, and engineering teams to ensure that R&D efforts align with business objectives.  In addition, the R&D Director will engage closely with our key customers to ensure our development roadmap is in line with customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the R&D team in the development of innovative cementing solutions that enhance well integrity and performance in the basins where NexTier operates.
  • Oversee the improvement of existing cementing products, focusing on performance, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.
  • Explore and integrate new technologies and materials into cementing solutions to maintain industry leadership.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and sales teams to align R&D initiatives with business strategies and customer demands.
  • Manage the R&D project portfolio, ensuring timely and successful delivery of projects within budget.
  • Mentor and develop the R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to inform R&D strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and collaborate with external partners, including universities and research institutions.

Language Comprehension
Ability to understand and speak English at a level of proficiency allowing employee to issue, receive and respond to both safety and operations-related directions in English

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an Engineering disciple, Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on well cementing.
  • Proven track record of leading R&D projects, preferably within an oilfield services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cementing technologies, materials, and industry standards.
