This Project Controls Analyst opportunity is focused on supporting a construction power project within the oil and gas sector. The Project Controls Analyst will play a key role in monitoring cost, schedule, progress, and resource usage to help maintain transparency and control across project delivery. This position offers exposure to both office-based project controls activity and site visits, giving the Project Controls Analyst the chance to contribute directly to reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis. Role Context
This role sits within the oil and gas industry and supports a construction power project. The position is based in Gregory, TX (Corpus Christi area) and includes site visits to support the site team, understand project execution, and identify changes affecting scope, schedule, risk, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor project costs, schedules, and resource usage, providing timely and accurate reporting.
  • Track daily labour hours, equipment utilisation, and material consumption across project activities.
  • Analyse actual costs against budget and forecast, including variance reporting and trend analysis.
  • Provide reporting on cash flow, progress, earned value, financial status, and contingency.
  • Track construction progress and produce project performance metrics and status updates.
  • Support forecasting of labor, equipment, and material requirements across the project duration.
  • Work with the construction team to verify installed quantities and assess progress against plan.
  • Support change management by documenting scope changes, identifying trends, and reviewing change order proposals.
  • Assess cost performance using earned value, percent complete, productivity rates, and burn rate analysis.
  • Document delays linked to contractor performance, weather, equipment breakdowns, manpower shortages, safety, environmental issues, or quality deficiencies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential:
    Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, finance, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • Essential:
    Minimum of 10 years of continuous experience with an oil and gas operating company and/or an engineering and construction company.
  • Essential:
    Previous experience as a cost analyst on a time and materials construction project.
  • Essential:
    Strong knowledge of project controls functions, processes, and procedures as applied to project management.
  • Essential:
    Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction costs, materials, and procedures within the oil and gas industry.
  • Essential:
    Proven capability in budget development, cost analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting.
  • Essential:
    Advanced Excel skills and strong PowerPoint capability for analysis and reporting.
  • Essential:
    Strong analytical, time management, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Desirable:
    MBA, PMP, and/or CCP credentials.
