This Principal Commissioning Engineer is responsible for creating complete project commissioning plans, resourcing plans, and commissioning budgets / proposals based on a clear understanding of the owner, facility and equipment functional requirements. Plans include sequenced activities, schedules, and documents, as well as conducting on-site/job site training, coaching, and auditing of job site commissioning activities. Provides technical review and leadership for the commissioning office and field teams and other technical groups at FTI. Including developing training systems inside and outside of the commissioning department and mentorship of other commissioning engineers and commissioning team members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience: 15 years of related experience.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Degree. CCP Certification or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: 10 years of related experience

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops commissioning processes, systems, and standard documents that interface with Estimating, Engineering, BIM, Detailing, Prefabrication, and Construction processes and activities.
- Creates LOTO plans and start-up scripts.
- Assists with implementation, review, and updating of LOTO and energization best practices and processes.
- Ensures that detailed procedures, checklists, and commissioning test scripts are accurate and appropriate for the task.
- Leads creation of Level 1 through 5 commissioning scripts.
- Provides technical training on commissioning, energization, and LOTO to FTI team members.
- Provides technical leadership and mentorship to commissioning team members.
- Assists in determining the commissioning process and technologies that will be used.
- Assists with the training and development of other commissioning engineers, technical team members, and other commissioning staff.
- Identifies and generates new business. Networks, establishes, and maintains internal and external customer relationships.
- Provides guidance to office and field teams to ensure start-up activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Provides support on creation, maintaining, and updating commissioning budget and schedule.
- Designs new commissioning programs by analyzing requirements and constructing workflow charts and diagrams to evaluate output requirements and formats.
- Provides support material or reports to Project Managers, Preconstruction Managers, or other leadership as required.
- Provides leadership for commissioning field reports.
- Provides support for field commissioning activities.
- Works closely with the Safety department to develop Lockout / Tagout procedures and integrate them into commissioning procedures.
- Ensures completed installations perform to functional requirements.
- Participates in customer / project interviews.
- Provides training for other technical personnel where applicable.
- Provides certification for Commissioning Site Leads.
- Provides development needs for other commissioning team members.
- Develops written Commissioning Work Scope and Estimates in accordance with RFP's.
- Leads the development of systems, strategies and plans to achieve project commissioning requirements.
- Monitors project commissioning activities and leads corrective actions as needed.
- Improves systems from current practices; devises strategies and plans to achieve project objectives.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications establishing personal networks, bench-marking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
