Job description

This is a project-based employee role supporting the initial development phase of our autonomous vehicle platforms. Development phases of this nature typically span up to project completion (typically 2–4 years), though scope and duration are driven by business needs.

JOB SUMMARY

The Electrical Assembler III independently builds medium to complex wiring harnesses used in ASI's autonomous vehicle systems. This role performs advanced harness assembly tasks, supports prototype vehicle builds, and identifies issues in harness documentation or design during assembly.

As a Level III assembler, this role works with minimal supervision to assemble complex pegboard harnesses, troubleshoot wiring issues, and collaborate with engineering teams to refine harness builds for prototype and production use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently build medium to complex wiring harnesses using pegboards and engineering documentation
  • Assemble harnesses with large numbers of leads and connectors
  • Perform advanced crimping, soldering, and splice operations
  • Troubleshoot harness issues and verify electrical integrity using continuity testing
  • Interpret electrical schematics and harness documentation
  • Identify missing specifications, incorrect wire gauges, or documentation issues and communicate them to engineering teams
  • Assist with prototype vehicle electrical integration and harness routing
  • Support validation and refinement of harness builds prior to scaling to production
  • Mentor junior assemblers and support training activities

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS

  • 5+ years of experience building wiring harnesses or electrical assemblies
  • Strong experience building medium to complex pegboard harnesses
  • Expertise with crimping tools, connector systems, and soldering techniques
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and identify documentation issues
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to wiring harness assembly
  • Experience working in prototype or development environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification
  • Experience building harnesses for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or heavy equipment systems
