About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties
Help

• Develop plans to support designs, equipment and processes.
• Provide data researched internally and externally for use by all levels of management and supervision.
• Design complex equipment which directly support the manufacturing and rebuild production processes.
• Provide subject matter expert support for lean process manufacturing and engineering services.
• Develop unique mechanical designs to solve problems in areas such as industrial production, environmental management, facilities, storage and warehousing, quality assurance testing, and manufacturing fabrication.
• Conduct studies to evaluate the effectiveness of current training operations.
• Apply engineering theories in the application of standard production processes.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must obtain and maintain certification as Contract Officer's Representative.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• Required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement OGE 450.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
• Position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
• Temporary promotion may be made permanent or extended up to a maximum of five years.
• Time Limited Detail NTE may be made permanent or extended at management discretion.
• Temporary appointments may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves collecting, analyzing, engineering data, preparing designs, sketches, specifications, construction cost estimates, negotiating contracts or performing project management, inspection, monitoring and controlling all phases of design and construction operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-09).
Note: Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes OR instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Education
Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
