Job description

Title: Engineering Intern
Department: Engineering
Job Summary: The Engineering Intern is responsible for working on various projects related to product development, product design, production system design, implementation, and improvement.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
  • Create and Maintain Critical Documents: Documents include but are not limited to; drawings and other technical documents related to project work, the laboratory quality manual, engineering action requests, testing records, training records, action orders, artifact records, calibration reports, as well as scheduling
  • Evaluate Products and Implement Changes: Under the direction of the engineering department manager or other designated supervisor, various product improvements may be Such investigations may include testing, production of evaluation reports, changing engineering documents, changes to bills of material and issuance of engineering change notices. These evaluations may also require close contact with vendors and suppliers. Tracking of all issues will be recorded in the engineering action log associated with the given evaluation.
  • Evaluate Processes and Implement Improvements: Under the direction of the engineering department manager or other designated supervisor, production and process improvements will be considered. Implementation of such improvements could include activities such as time efficiency studies, cost analysis, process changes and if additional equipment is necessary determining the specifications of the necessary equipment.
  • As a project engineering intern additional assignments may be given which could require the utilization of any number of company resources to achieve task Such projects could require any number of skills or resources outside of the normal scope of the position, however, such assignments are to be expected.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Have obtained or actively in the process of obtaining an Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial and Manufacturing technology or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • Have experience and be able to demonstrate proficiency with the following software programs: MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and possibly Ignite, CREO and/or AutoCAD.
  • Have experience with a 30 modeling software package such as Solid Works, Solid Edge, or CREO. Hormann LLC maintains licenses of CREO; therefore, experience with this package is preferred.

  • Have the ability to work on several projects
