Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Director, Alternative Delivery (Design/Build, P3) - Major Projects Group within our Major Projects team with leadership and technical capabilities to join our Infrastructure business. 

This role requires a candidate who can grow our Alternative Delivery (Design-Build and P3) engineering business across Canada.  The candidate will identify opportunities, manage the proposal process, and collaborate with business development, technical, and engineering staff to create winning proposals.  The successful candidate will make key informed strategic decisions regarding partnerships with construction entities and other designer and shall lead a team including engineers, designers, and other specialists through the full life cycle of an Alternative Delivery pursuit; teaming, request for qualifications, shortlist request for proposal, contracts and arrangements, budget estimating and scheduling and into Construction Delivery.

The role is a national role, predominately focused on the transit and transportation markets with a strategic view on certainly metropolitan geographies mainly in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategy for building Wood's presence in the Design-Build Infrastructure sector, with an initial focus on Transportation projects
  • Lead the proposal process for Design-Build and P3 opportunities
  • Provide direction to design team, and manage projects from the proposal stage, through the design phases and into construction completion
  • Work with team members to ensure project objectives are met
  • Actively manage project scope changes, schedules, and budgets
  • Mentor professional staff
Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering, preferably civil, with at least 10 years of progressive experience in Infrastructure projects
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, as a P. Eng. in Alberta or BC
  • Experience managing design-build Infrastructure projects
  • Strong teamwork, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience in BC, Alberta and Ontario transportation projects would be a key asset.
  • Possesses a performance driven acumen
  • Hold a construction orientated mindset, a strong construction background in a similar role will be deemed favorable.
