TekPro is partnered with a leading contract machining company in the Seymour, CT area in their search for a Wire EDM Programmer or Setup Tech! This company specializes in producing complex, close-tolerance components for highly regulated industries such as aerospace and medical, and continues to invest in advanced machining technologies and employee development.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Wire EDM professional who enjoys working on challenging parts, tight tolerances, and advanced manufacturing projects. Candidates with strong setup experience who may not have full programming responsibilities are also encouraged to apply.

Position Summary

The Wire EDM Programmer/Setup Technician will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating wire EDM equipment to manufacture precision-machined components. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient machining processes, exceptional quality, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program, set up, and operate wire EDM machines to produce precision components according to engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Create and optimize machining programs using CAD/CAM software.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Perform machine setups, tool adjustments, and process verification.
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve productivity and process capability.
  • Maintain setup documentation, program revisions, and production records.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience programming, setting up, and operating wire EDM equipment in a precision machining environment.
  • Experience with Mitsubishi, FANUC, or comparable wire EDM platforms preferred.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, blueprint reading, and GD&T.
  • CAD/CAM programming experience required.
  • Ability to manufacture complex components with extremely tight tolerances.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
