Programmer

Responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining operations to produce precision mechanical components that meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Collaborates with engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to select appropriate tooling and machining parameters, validate programs through test runs and prove‑outs, and continuously improve programming efficiency, accuracy, and production performance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and write CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines based on engineering drawings and specifications. Responsible for programming of mechanical part consistent with the quality requirements established by drawings and fabrication/inspection plans.
  • Select cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates; write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
  • Analyze and evaluate computer test‑runs and prove‑outs to determine if specifications are met; determine procedural and programming logic to improve proficiency and accuracy of CNC program.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to ensure accurate and timely production.
Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in related discipline and/or equivalent
  • 5+ years of related discipline; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Strong working knowledge of comprehensive 3D CAD systems, such as Mastercam or NX, including 3D modeling and analysis of geometry
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of CNC machines and controllers
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
