Examples of Duties This recruitment is being established to obtain a current eligible list for both full time and Extra-Help vacancies. Extra-Help are not entitled to county benefits and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week. Extra-Help pay is $33.27 - $40.48

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Reviews Land Development Improvement Plans and associated calculations for compliance with County requirements. Prepares traffic engineering field studies and reduces data for preparation of traffic engineering reports. Assists in the design/preparation of plans/specifications for road and bridge construction projects.

Assists in the inspection of construction work in progress. May assists in the preparation of various resolutions and ordinances dealing with public works issues for adoption by the Board of Supervisors. Reviews survey maps and subdivision improvement plans for compliance with the Subdivision Map Act and Land Surveyors Act.

Designs and prepares plans and specifications for various road and bridge construction projects. Prepares and administers contracts with private engineering consultants. Conducts speed surveys, distances surveys, traffic studies, and accident studies; Prepares construction estimates and performs inspection of construction work in progress.

Reviews survey maps and subdivision improvement plans for compliance with the Subdivision Map Act and Land Surveyors Act. Incumbents at the higher level in this classification are also expected to: Serve as lead engineer on assigned projects, reviewing the work of other engineering staff. Participate in the bidding process.

Minimum Qualifications Level I Experience: One (1) year of technical experience working in the Engineering field.

OR Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related Engineering field from an accredited college or university; OR possession of a Certificate as an Engineer-In- Training or Land Surveyor-In- Training issued by the State Board Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Level II Experience: One (1) year of experience comparable to that of an Engineering Associate I in Merced County.

AND Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related Engineering field from an accredited college or university; OR possession of a Certificate as an Engineer-In-Training or Land Surveyor-in-Training issued by the State Board Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Level III Experience: Two (2) years of experience comparable to that of an Engineering Associate II in Merced County.

AND Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related Engineering field from an accredited college or university; OR possession of a Certificate as an Engineer-In-Training or Land Surveyor-in-Training issued by the State Board Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Essential Functions Operate a personal computer and other modern office equipment.
