Overview

Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Software Engineer II to join our team in Rome, NY. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years professional software engineering experience. This is an onsite position supporting our Trusted Systems team, where you will contribute to research, engineering design, and the development of innovative software solutions.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop, debug, and test different software solutions with oversight from senior technical staff
  • Work effectively within a Linux‑based development environment
  • Work with senior engineers to design and develop software
  • Contribute to an agile environment with an integrated team of developers, testers, and investigators
  • Contribute to technical documentation
  • Participate in code and design reviews with oversight from senior technical staff
  • Effective task decomposition and level of effort estimation over narrow software and system space
Education / Experience / Skillset Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study, and 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with C/C++ or Rust
  • Experience with Python, Go, Bash or other scripting languages
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
  • Strong foundation in operating systems, data structures and programming fundamentals
  • Familiarity with virtualization / containerization (e.g., docker, KVM, VirtualBox, Xen)
  • Ability to understand and describe technical software systems

US Salary Range: $92,000 - $142,000

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience.
