Sherpa 6 is seeking a talented DevSecOps Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining the security and integrity of our systems and data. We build mission critical systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other commercial customers. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and improving the processes that package, release, and deploy our software applications. Youโ€™ll collaborate closely with engineering, QA, program management, and product teams to ensure smooth, reliable, and timely releases that support our business objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing software releasing strategies, working with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and developing and implementing robust release pipelines and controls.


Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end release process for software applications across environments (dev, staging, production).
  • Develop and maintain automated build, release, and deployment pipelines.
  • Partner with development and QA teams to validate release readiness, including regression, performance, and security testing gates.
  • Create and maintain release documentation, including schedules, rollback procedures, and release notes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase release efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve build and deployment issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and track release metrics, ensuring compliance with SLAs and company standards.
  • Develop IaC using Pulumi or Terraform to deploy software to cloud systems
Requirements:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in software release engineering, build engineering, DevOps, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong knowledge of source control systems (Git, branching strategies, tagging).
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Groovy, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

Qualities of Exceptional Candidates:

  • Experience with developing and configuring solutions for integrating automated security tasks, such as scans and documentation, into CI/CD pipelines or IT workflows
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Experience working in the DoD or government realms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and automated scanning
