Job description

Responsible for the care and custody of clients (probationers, parolees, inmates) assigned to the Community Justice Support Center. Responsible for the security of probationers, parolees, inmates, and all individuals and personnel in the center at all times.
 
Oversee participant schedules; and monitor drug/alcohol sobriety through urinalysis testing and breathalyzer testing as deemed  necessary.  Report updates of compliance/non-compliance of drug screens & feedback of client behavior.
 
Complete all necessary paperwork, reports and documentation.  Actively participate in all scheduled security meetings and any other required meetings at the Center. Any other task or duty as assigned or required by Supervisor or Program Manager.
 
This position is located at the Community Justice Support Center, located at: 492 Pleasant Street, Northampton, MA 01060.
 
Posting will close on Saturday, March 14, 2026; however late submissions MAY be reviewed until the position is filled.

Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university; or high school diploma and minimum of four (4) years of experience in social service, security, or*related field. Demonstrated ability to exercise courtesy, respect, and professionalism in interpersonal communication with public and clients. Preferred: Understanding of de-escalation techniques.

Must have high degree of confidentiality for  access to client records, and the ability to communicate with others in a direct, clear, and professional manner. Must successfully  pass background and physical/drug screenings to include the ability to lift or carry an inmate, client or fellow colleague in time of need or crisis. Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license. Must be flexible with shift hours, to include both day and afternoon/night shifts (see below):

Hours will be Monday through Friday, weekends off.  Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week.  Benefited state employee position. Hours on certain days will either be 6:30AM to 2:30PM or 11:00AM to 7:00PM, depending on testing schedule.
