Decision Technologies seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in mechanical design, 3D modeling, and hands-on engineering experience in a professional environment.
Position Description:
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support engineering efforts related to mechanical part design, CAD modeling, production documentation, and prototyping activities. The intern will work with engineering teams to assist in developing and analyzing 3D models, preparing technical drawings, and supporting manufacturing and production efforts.
This internship is designed to provide practical experience with mechanical engineering tools, design processes, and hardware development projects.
Responsibilities and Duties:
โ€ข Assist with reverse engineering mechanical parts and developing 3D CAD models
โ€ข Support the design and analysis of mechanical components and assemblies
โ€ข Help prepare CAD drawings and technical documentation for production and Technical Data Packages (TDPs)
โ€ข Assist with evaluating "Make-Buy" decisions for mechanical parts and components
โ€ข Support prototyping and production preparation activities
โ€ข Assist with 3D printing of developed CAD models and prototype components
โ€ข Participate in testing, measurements, and engineering reviews as needed
โ€ข Maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and project files
โ€ข Collaborate with team members on engineering projects and process improvements
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
โ€ข Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
โ€ข Interest in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and hardware development
โ€ข Basic understanding of engineering drawings and mechanical design concepts
โ€ข Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
โ€ข Good communication and organizational skills
โ€ข Ability to work independently and as part of a team
โ€ข Willingness to learn engineering tools, technologies, and manufacturing processes
Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข Exposure to 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools through coursework, labs, or personal projects is a plus, but not required
โ€ข Familiarity with 3D printing or prototyping concepts is helpful
