Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Mission Critical Sr. Engineering & Commissioning Leader must be a proven results oriented individual with a professional track record in providing profitable professional services coupled with a high level of client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, fast paced environment. This position will combine strong leadership personal communication abilities, and technical skills to commission Hyperscale, Enterprise, and Collocation Data Centers.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with a team of Veolia field engineers to safely prepare for and perform field activities, complete related documentation, record commissioning results, and log any issues.
  • Understand client project expectations and ensure Veolia execution meets requirements.
  • Act as the Veolia Safety Representative for the project duration, ensuring Veolia staff focus on safety.
  • Work with larger project teams to meet schedules, coordinate daily field activities and required resources, and generate daily, weekly and status reports.Act as Point of Contact for Veolia for all client project directives, requests, and feedback.
  • Work with client site and regional representatives to set and meet project expectations, including prerequisites, field processes, documentation, schedules, and budgets.
  • Set project assignments and schedules for Veolia project engineers.
  • Assist with field commissioning activities as necessary.
  • In some instances, be a technical subject matter expert for complex mission critical projects.
  • Develop methods and procedures for electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire life safety systems for mission critical projects.
  • Lead client meetings for scheduling, daily coordination, progress discussions, issue resolution, and other key project topics.
  • Track Veolia team hours and efforts above the contracted or expected levels for future change orders.
  • Draft proposals for client project requests and change orders.
  • Assist with Veolia departmental budgets, KPIโ€™s, and financial planning.
  • Assist in development of the Veolia team, including interviews and feedback, onboarding, instruction and training.
  • Supervise direct report team members when assigned, and provide employee reviews per company direction.
  • Any other related tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Permanent and full-time position, from Monday to Friday, day schedules.
  • The ideal candidate will primarily work at client project sites, but can also operate effectively remotely from a home office.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • BS/MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 5 or more years of complex mission critical commissioning project management experience, or relevant and applicable industry experience.

OR

  • Minimum of 10 years of complex mission critical commissioning project management experience, or relevant and applicable industry experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred but not required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Organized, detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, problem solver.
  • Good communication and relationship skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and manage project engineers on day to day tasks.
  • Knowledge & experience with ASHRAE commissioning guidelines.
  • Thorough understanding of data center MEP equipment, assemblies and systems, including BMS and EPMS.
  • Electrical: Familiarity with Medium Voltage switchgear, Main Switchboards up to 5000A, Back up Generation, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPSs), Automatic Transfer systems, plus other applicable power transfer equipment ranging from 600V A.C/D.C and lower.
  • Mechanical: Familiarity with HVAC equipment, Chiller Plants, Evaporative Cooling, CRAHs, CRACs, Pumping systems, and Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Team player and a โ€œclient-firstโ€ mentality.
  • Contribute to engineering teams in the delivery of mechanical/electrical systems commissioning.
  • Can review contract documents and equipment submittals, perform construction inspections and observations, develop or review functional test plans and execute tests for a wide variety data center systems.
  • Demonstrate superior time management and ability to work under the pressures of schedule demands.
  • Ability to be resourceful, work with engineering teams, and quickly find solutions to complex problems.
  • Able to think technically about mission critical systems and verbalize for a less technical audience.
  • Able to drive project expectations to conclusion while being fiscally conscious of project budgets.
  • Be a role model of composure for direct reports under difficult project conditions and client expectations.
  • Be a mentor for direct reports and subject matter expert for direct report growth.
  • If needed, be able to interview and participate in the selection of candidates to fill direct report positions.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • PMP certified preferred but not required.
  • U.S NFPA 70E a plus.
  • LEED accreditation a plus.
  • InfraRed Thermography Certified a plus.
  • Demonstrate above average computer skills; familiarity with computer tablets a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • May require extensive local, national, and occasional international travel. Position may require employees to be away from home on assignments between an average of 50% and up to 80% monthly. Weekly schedules are determined by client work and meeting expectations. Veolia allows employees to travel home any weekend there are no site work commitments.
  • Role may occasionally require work to be conducted outside of normal business hours to accommodate schedule deadlines, or periodic weekend work requests typical of mission critical project schedules.
  • Working environment requires the employee to be in high energy areas such as central plants, switchgear rooms and power transmission areas typical of Mission Critical environments.
Additional Information

Pay Range: $135000 to $150000 Per Year.
