SAP Project Manager (SAP S/4HANA & JIRA)
Location: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid - 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote)
Duration: Long Term, Contract Opportunity - W2 only
We are seeking an experienced SAP Project Manager to lead and support a large-scale SAP S/4HANA ERP transformation initiative. This role is ideal for a project management professional with strong SAP program delivery experience and expert-level proficiency in JIRA, Agile methodologies, and enterprise release management.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Program & Project Management
  • Lead SAP implementation, upgrade, migration, and enhancement projects from initiation through deployment.
  • Support strategic objectives of a large-scale SAP S/4HANA ERP transformation program.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, resource allocations, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage scope, change requests, dependencies, and project governance activities.
  • Maintain CRAID (Change Requests, Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Decisions) logs and drive resolution activities.
  • Provide regular status updates and executive-level reporting to stakeholders and leadership teams.
Agile Delivery & JIRA Management
  • Own and manage JIRA boards, workflows, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Create and maintain Epics, Features, User Stories, Tasks, and Backlogs.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and Agile ceremonies.
  • Utilize JQL, automation, and dashboard reporting to drive project visibility and accountability.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Owners to prepare teams for Program Increment (PI) Planning.
Release & Program Coordination
  • Coordinate release management activities, testing cycles, cutover planning, training, and deployment readiness.
  • Track production releases, incidents, major releases, and release-on-demand activities.
  • Manage cross-functional and cross-system dependencies between SAP modules and legacy applications.
  • Remove blockers, escalate risks, and ensure adherence to governance processes.
  • Facilitate lessons learned sessions and successful transition to support operations.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with business leaders, product teams, SAP functional consultants, developers, and third-party vendors.
  • Support steering committee meetings and executive presentations.
  • Drive alignment across multiple workstreams while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 3+ years of SAP project or program management experience.
  • Experience managing SAP implementation, upgrade, migration, or support projects.
  • Expert-level hands-on experience with JIRA, including:
    • Board administration
    • Workflow configuration
    • JQL queries
    • Dashboard creation
    • Backlog management
    • Confluence integration
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Experience managing risks, dependencies, budgets, schedules, and executive reporting.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP S/4HANA implementation experience.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or SAFe certification.
  • SAP Activate or SAP module certification.
