Job description

Description

TEKsystems is seeking a cleared Program Manager to lead execution of a high-priority SOCOM program focused on integrating AI/ML-powered RF sensing capabilities into UAV platforms. This individual will take ownership of the NGTUAV program, a newly launched initiative currently lacking dedicated leadership, and drive it from rapid prototyping through operational deployment. The role requires close collaboration with DoD stakeholders, internal engineering teams (embedded systems and machine learning), and executive leadership to ensure delivery against program timelines, technical milestones, and mission objectives. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced startup environments, is comfortable operating with ambiguity, and has a strong track record managing defense programs with real-world operational impact.

Who you are:

-5+ years managing DoD rapid prototyping, SBIR Phase III, OTA, or BAA-funded contracts, with demonstrated experience delivering hardware/software integration programs through milestone-based development.

-Comfortable operating as the sole PM on a complex program, i.e. you don't need a PMO behind you to drive schedule, cost, and risk management.

-Strong instinct for multi-partner coordination; you've managed teaming relationships with subcontractors and government labs on programs with real technical interdependencies.

-Experienced with cost accounting, IMS development, and CDRL/deliverables tracking.

-Excellent communicator who can translate between engineering teams, SOF operators, and government acquisition professionals.

-Active Secret clearance required; TS preferred.

-Based in NYC (or willing to relocate), with ability to travel ~25% to partner sites, government facilities, and exercise locations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Candidates must possess an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI, and have experience managing DoD or national security programs. A strong understanding of UAV systems, aerospace platforms, or RF technologies is highly preferred, along with exposure to embedded systems or AI/ML-enabled hardware. The ideal candidate brings program execution experience across the full lifecycle, including stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and contract delivery. Prior experience supporting SOCOM, Army programs, or rapid prototyping initiatives is a plus. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to work cross-functionally, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and operate successfully in a high-growth, early-stage company environment.

Nice to Have:

-Experience with USSOCOM acquisition processes (BAAST, SOFWERX, SOF AT&L, SOCOM SBIR/XTECH).

-Familiarity with UAS systems, EW/SIGINT, or RF technology programs; you don't need to be an engineer, but you should be able to hold your own in conversations about SWaP constraints, SDR architectures, and ML model deployment.

-Prior work supporting SOCOM/JSOC customer sets.

-Experience standing up program infrastructure (tools, processes, cadence) at a startup or small defense tech company rather than inheriting an existing PMO.
