Job Summary The Senior Intern, Quality Management (QM) will work alongside the Senior Director of Quality Management (QM) situated within the Quality, Compliance, and Oversight (QCO) Department.

The Senior Intern will contribute and provide support for the operations, planning and logistics needed to support QM and assistance with special projects. The Senior Intern will develop and strengthen business and process improvement skills while working on QCO-related cross-functional projects. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while supporting one of the largest transit systems in the nation.

The Senior Intern will get guidance and mentorship from the MBTA's QCO team. Working in QCO, the Senior Intern will be on the front line of a mission critical engagement essential to the operation and reputation of the MBTA. The MBTA offers internship start dates on the first Monday of September, December, March, and June.

We're looking for candidates who can commit to six months' experience, allowing for a more meaningful and impactful contribution. We are looking to hire 1 intern, who will work at least 2 - 3 days onsite (40 hours per week) for at least six months (September - February). Duties & Responsibilities Contribute to and provide support for the operations, planning and logistics needed to support the QM team and assistance with special projects.

Support Quality Management activities related to the Audit Workstream and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Workstreams, including assisting with tracking deliverables, organizing documentation, monitoring action items, preparing meeting materials, and coordinating follow-up with internal stakeholders to support timely completion and continuous improvement. Assist the Senior Director of QM and others with their duties related to the development, implementation, and close-out of regulatory findings from oversight authorities such as Federal Transit Agency (FTA) and the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), and/or enterprise projects that further the MBTA's strategic goals or to address deficiencies and/or opportunities for improvement at the MBTA. Attend and participate internal MBTA meetings (virtual and/or in person).

Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a professional and courteous manner. Performs all other duties and projects that may be assigned. Additional responsibilities may include focus on one or more departments or locations.

See applicable addendum for department or location specific functions. Minimum Requirements & Qualifications Enrolled, for entire duration of employment, in the graduate / master's degree program of an accredited college / university. Above average proficiency in project management.

Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Office 365 preferred). At least one year of professional experience in Quality Management. Above average data analysis skills.

Above average analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities. Above average ability to communicate clearly and concisely, presenting ideas in user-friendly language. Above average presentation and interpersonal skills.

Above average ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers. Above average ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines. Above average ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Above average ability to communicate effectively in English, both in written and oral forms. Highly organized, motivated, and have great attention-to-detail. Strong interest in public service, transit, or transportation and how it operates.

Above average ability to work effectively in diverse, collaborative, fast-paced environments as well as independently. Ability to independently commute to assigned work locations in the Boston, MA metro area, as required by the role. Intern / co-op staff must be enrolled full or part-time in an accredited educational program and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 for the entire duration of the internship / co-op. Intern / Co-Op Benefits: Employees taking part in an internship or co-op at the MBTA are eligible to receive accrued paid sick leave as well as a monthly transportation pass, based on the city from which the intern / co-op commutes to work, at no cost.
