The Role
As a Sr. Finance Manager, Corporate Risk & Trade Finance at AspenTech, you will lead the company's coordination of trade finance, insurance, and corporate risk management activities. In this role, you will serve as the central point of ownership for risk matters spanning performance guarantees, bid bonds, letters of credit, certificates of insurance, workers' compensation, and more. You will partner closely with internal stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, Sales, Commercial Finance, and Project teams, as well as Emerson corporate functions. The role requires strong financial judgment, project management discipline, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders while bringing structure, transparency, and accountability to processes that directly impact customer negotiations, contract execution, compliance, and commercial risk management.
Your Impact
  • Own day-to-day coordination of corporate risk management activities across Finance, Treasury, Legal, Sales, Commercial Finance, and other internal teams
  • Manage the lifecycle of trade finance instruments, including bid bonds, performance guarantees, letters of credit, and other instruments
  • Partner with Treasury and banking partners to coordinate applications, issuance, monitoring, renewals, and release of trade finance instruments while clarifying execution responsibilities
  • Use JIRA or other workflow tools to track requests, assignees, statuses, aging, bottlenecks, expiration dates, and open risk items.
  • Monitor open and expiring guarantees, bonds, insurance certificates, and other risk instruments
  • Coordinate certificate of insurance requests, coverage evidence, and stakeholder follow-up
  • Support contract negotiations by identifying insurance, indemnity, liability, parent guarantee, performance guarantee, and other trade finance requirements
  • Partner with Legal and Commercial teams to evaluate non-standard contract terms and ensure business risk acceptance is explicit and approved by the appropriate decision makers
  • Comply with approval matrices, DOA guidelines, and escalation paths for insurance and trade finance decisions
  • Translate complex insurance and trade finance issues into clear business recommendations for senior finance and commercial leadership
  • Improve front-end deal review discipline by ensuring insurance and trade finance requirements are reviewed before contracts are signed
  • Lead education of Sales, Project Management, Legal, and Finance teams on trade finance and insurance requirements, including common red flags and required lead times

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • 10-12 years of professional experience in finance, including substantial experience in Corporate Treasury.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage complex long-term projects.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced expertise in Excel and experience building and using business intelligence tools.
  • Extensive experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems, Jira, banking platforms, and other analytical tools.
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex data to senior leadership in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively solicit information and foster cooperation from diverse internal and external stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is $115,100.00 - $143,900.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
