Consisting of an interdisciplinary team of health professionals and support staff, Health & Wellness at the University of Toronto aims to support graduate and undergraduate students in reaching their academic goals, engage students in their development and learning, and support their health and well-being by providing health education, clinical and consultation services. Health and Wellness (HW) provides counselling to students with a wide range of concerns ranging from relationship problems to debilitating depression and anxiety, suicidal and/or homicidal ideation, post-traumatic stress, and eating disorders.
Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Director, Professional Practice & Quality Assurance, Health & Wellness, the Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement Coordinator provides direct research support for small to large-scale research and evaluation projects for Health & Wellness.
The Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement Coordinator will initiate qualitative and quantitative data gathering activities, including conducting literature searches, developing protocols and data gathering tools; manage and catalogue data sets, records, archival materials, literature searches, and other documents relevant to the project; create and update documentation of program evaluation and quality improvement of protocols; design, create, and manage program databases; analyze qualitative and quantitative data sets; prepare reports related to data collection; provide administrative support to the Director (e.g. coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items); and respond to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and selecting methods of data collection and analysis for research projects. Drafting summaries of research project results. Analyzing complex data that requires great precision and attention to many details.
- Analyzing results and preparing statistical reports for research papers. Designing, pre-testing and formatting surveys, interviews and other research data collection tools.
- Drafting and submitting documented procedures to the Research Ethics Board (REB) for approval.
- Conducting systematic literature reviews. Overseeing the distribution and collection of research surveys and questionnaires. Training others on research methods and data analysis. Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods. Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected.
- Handling confidential and sensitive information pertaining to personal medical profile. Following rules and procedural processes related to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Checking that projects adhere to ethical and privacy requirements.
- Conducting detailed analysis of service usage statistics and feedback to inform planning activities. Drafting presentation materials. Generating statistical graphics from existing statistics.
- Designing and optimizing databases. Updating and maintaining database records. Running queries to gather data. Maintaining data archives.
- Directing the activities of casual staff. Training end-users on procedures and the use of supported IT systems.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a related mental health field (Psychology, Life Science, Cognitive Science, Public Health, Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work) or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five years related experience in research, statistical analysis (ANOVA, MANOVA, etc.), report writing, and administration.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data coding processes required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access - intermediate to expert). Proficient with SPSS (ANOVA, MANOVA, regression, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, interpretive and problem solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, and ability to set priorities and meet concurrent deadlines.
- Familiarity with mental health, social science research, and program evaluation.
- Ability to multi-task with regular interruptions in a shared workplace and work independently, as well as a team member.
- Understanding of relevant university administrative policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and confidentially; liaise with internal and external members, partners, and stakeholders; and interact in a professional manner with university and community stakeholders.
