Job Title

Director, Data Center Advisory Team – Americas Region

Job Description Summary

The Opportunity & Purpose of the Role
The opportunity is to become part of an exciting revenue growth story unfolding in our IPM function. We have developed a proven global account management model for the occupiers of data centers in the EMEA region, which benefits both our clients and our brokerage/service line platforms in region.
The operating model is quite simple – we are about providing a consistent service delivery, across multiple workstreams and geographies for the occupiers of data centers, whether that be a Cloud Service Provider seeking to expand capacity through self-build programs or an Enterprise/Fortune 500 business deciding where and how to place their next Colocation deployment.
The DCAT team of IPM provides its clients with a regional/global single point of contact (i.e., Client Relationship Manager) to oversee individual or programs of transactions, ultimately with the aim of upholding standards, driving consistency, and aggregating/sharing lessons learned along the way.
Our enterprise clients (banking and finance in particular) are increasingly turning their attention from the physical aspects of their real estate portfolio to how their digital/data is going to be accommodated and protected moving forwards. This presents an added dimension for IPM across the Americas, as the data center/digital aspects of our client portfolios increasingly transition from a peripheral/non-real estate matter to a core and integrated part of their CRE strategies.
The successful candidate will work together with our regional and global Client Relationship Leads (CRLs) and their respective account teams, to engage clients and champion the importance of integrating digital strategies with their CRE, which ultimately will lead to new portfolio ideas and service/transactional mandates being created.
We expect that initially, the role will be quite broad as we define and refine the optimal operating model for the Americas. However, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the growth of data center opportunities across the Americas, as it serves as a key conduit between our managed occupier clients and our brokerage/service line platform. We fully expect the successful candidate to require additional support and hires, as momentum in this growth initiative builds.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Global CRL in London, to provide transactional/regional account management to an established Cloud Service Provider client, currently expanding its Americas footprint through a self-build/land acquisition program.  This will involve attending regular project calls/workshops, project tracking, overseeing local land brokers, regional relationship management and responding to new project RFPs as they arise.   It will also require the successful candidate to lead the regional Quarterly Business Reviews for Americas region, supported by the Global CRL in London.

To build relationships and awareness with the key account CRLs and client contacts and to champion the digital/data center agenda, including attending/supporting client QBRs, where needed.

To build relationships and awareness with the key data center brokers / service line specialists and our Global Thinktank (i.e., research team) to encourage a two-way flow of information to drive better data and insight into our client portfolios.

To develop a regional 3-year business plan for IPM data centers, aligned to EMEA/APAC plan and providing substantiated financial forecasting and clearly defined capital investment asks needed to deliver the 3-year plan.

As new transactional and consulting opportunities are created, to manage this workload (in whatever form this may take), working in partnership with our brokerage/service line platform to deliver the best outcome for our clients and platform. This will include a degree of solutioning, dispute resolution and reporting/tracking both to client and internally.

In collaboration with Head of Global Practice Groups, to establish governance and process around how work will be directed to the brokerage/service line platform to ensure such allocation of work is placed transparently and fairly.

To join and contribute to the Global Data Center Practice Group, comprising c30 brokers/service line specialists across the Americas and chaired by our Global Practice Groups lead.  The successful candidate will champion the work they are doing to drive more value and revenue from our managed enterprise accounts to the platform and seek support to unlock ideas where applicable.

To work closely with the Global Thinktank lead for specialist markets, contributing insight to the global and regional research program, in particular ensuring that Americas market beats are consistent in approach with EMEA and APAC versions.

To attend and contribute to major data center congress events to promote the C&W brand to the sector.  The successful candidate will play an important role with promoting the occupier niche of our service and will work very closely with marketing and others to achieve this.
