Job description

This position will work within the Political and Campaigns Division of the Political and Field Mobilization Department in order to advance the implementation and objectives of the AFL-CIO’s 2026 electoral work.

This position reports to the Assistant Political Director & National Campaigns Director.

This is a temporary position not to exceed November 30, 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:

       Work closely with the Political and Field Mobilization labor 2026 team to      increase union participation in labor to include ”opting in” to political and member education programs such as local union mail, digital ads, and social influencer programs for all priority races  during the 2026 election cycle.

       Work with and assist affiliates, labor bodies, and local unions to get them signed up for the AFL-CIO Local Union Mail program.

       Learn and utilize program platforms like the Working Families Toolkit, Local Union Database, and Action Builder in order to support local unions with their local union mail program investment. 

       Collaborate regularly with assigned state leads, campaign managers, and field staff.

       Maintain and update tracking systems to ensure accuracy.

       Prepare regular progress reports to keep the team updated.

       Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

       3 years of experience in political campaigns or organizations with specific demonstrated experience in campaign or organizational outreach.

       Knowledge of the workings of the labor movement and its structure or proven track record navigating intense, dynamic environments

       Effective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects, including demonstrated experience in developing campaign and/or personal work plans and goals.

       Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suites.

       Ability to understand the various programs and resources of the AFL-CIO for election education work; assess political issues or gaps; and follow through with solutions and resolution of issues.

       Demonstrated ability to work well within a team.

       Experience using the VAN voter file system is preferred.

       Ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines, including weekends.
