Job location: Please note that this internship will be located at our ST office in Chandler, AZ.
The MEMS Sensor Sub-Group is responsible for the development activities of new products and technologies to support Automotive, Industrial and Medical markets. Products include accelerometers, gyroscopes and pressure sensors that are packaged with microcontrollers and application specific integrated circuits to provide a system solution to customers.
YOUR ROLE
  • The MEMS Sensors Product Engineer Intern position is a central role in the development of new products within the MEMS Sensors Sub-Group.
  • The intern will be responsible for the following:
    • Executing characterization plans and report findings.
    • Create and execute qualification plans including test definitions, pre and post stress data analysis and final reporting of results.
    • Bench validation of key product requirements. This may include hardware and software design, correlation with ATE data, etc.
    • Interfacing with manufacturing site to ramp the product into high volume manufacturing.
    • Interface with assembly for product BOMs and building samples.

Key Challenges:
  • The intern will be required to interface with other engineers to problem solve any product errata, customer returns or test procedure debug.
  • The intern can face some unique challenges including both ASIC and MEMs design or quality issues. This will require a strong knowledge in data analysis, setting up design of experiments and the use of the 8D process to help root cause and correct failures.
  • The intern will interface with Design, Process, Test, Quality, Manufacturing and Customers throughout the New Product Introduction cycle of a program.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering.
  • Prior Product experience with Sensor/MEMS knowledge will be a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills - both oral and written - are required.
  • Use of tools for technical analysis and productivity tools, such as JMP, MS Excel, MS Project are required.
