Job description

Job Summary:MaineGeneral Health is a leading healthcare system committed to excellence, compassion, and collaboration in serving our patients, families, and communities. We are currently seeking a Community Programs Coordinator to join our dynamic Community Health Department supporting the Maine Nourish ME program. This full-time position will play a critical role in promoting the health and well-being of residents in central Maine through evidence-based nutrition education and public health interventions for youth and adults.Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations related to the delivery of evidence-based nutrition education programs and policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change initiatives supporting the Nourish ME program.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners to implement nutrition education programs and sustainable Food is Medicine (FIM) strategies.
  • Implement new program including relevant administration guidelines.
  • Present on Nourish ME program and implementation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver evidence-based nutrition education programs aligned with Nourish ME goals related to chronic disease prevention and management, such as Cooking Matters, and others to improve community health.
  • Implement evidence-based Food Is Medicine (FIM) public health approaches (farmers market vouchers, gleaning, school-based health strategies, etc.) aligned with Nourish ME goals.
  • Collaborate with team to support clinical referrals and enrollment into nutrition education programs.
  • Lead outreach efforts to increase awareness of and participation in nutrition education programs.
  • Ensure program delivery maintains fidelity while adapting appropriately to local community needs.
  • Ensure program implementation follows guidance as set by the Nourish ME program administrator, University of New England.
  • Monitor and manage assigned program budget, track budget expenditures and spending aligns with grant requirements and approved funding allocations.
  • Collaborate with finance staff to support accurate reporting.
  • Participate in training and meetings, both in-person and online.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, Community/Public Health, health education, behavioral sciences or a related field.
  • 2-4 years experience.
  • Experience with group facilitation and engaging youth and adults in health education sessions.
  • Experience with community centered public health interventions such as Food is Medicine.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for reporting, creating presentations, and communication materials.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences and work collaboratively
  • Valid Maine driver's license and reliable transportation.

Certifications That Would Be a Plus:

  • Experience leading Cooking Matters programming
  • Prior experience with the SNAP-Ed program
