Mote, Jr. Incentive Awards Program (IAP). Reporting to the Assistant Director, and working collaboratively with the IAP team, the Program Coordinator facilitates programming, communication and student services. Responsibilities of this position include recruiting in high schools, supporting selection, providing professional and personal advising to students, managing the program’s tutoring component, overseeing student committees, coordinating office communications, and other duties as assigned to ensure a supportive and enriching experience for all IAP students and seamless execution of programmatic initiatives. Physical Demands: Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances as well as travel to on- and off-campus locations to deliver and pick up materials or attend required events. Licenses/Certifications: N/A# **Minimum Qualifications**Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: One (1) year of professional program, outreach, or event coordination experience. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Knowledge of outreach and marketing strategies. Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.# **Additional Job Details****About the C.D. Mote, Jr. Incentive Awards Program** The C.D. Mote, Jr. Incentive Awards Program (IAP) is designed to recognize and promote scholarship, leadership, and community responsibility among students from select high schools, making it financially possible for these students to enroll at the University of Maryland. Beyond the scholarship component, IAP focuses on developing character, critical thinking skills, and leadership in the context of an intimate community of peers. Students selected to join IAP have demonstrated uncommon persistence, ingenuity, and maturity by maintaining good academic performance in the face of challenging circumstances. Many IAP students are first-generation college attendees, and all of them join the program from underserved communities or high schools. IAP students rely heavily on program staff as their primary source of support, requiring staff members to provide comprehensive, high-touch services and to be equipped to address a wide range of complex and diverse student needs.**Responsibilities:**Recruitment and Selection (25%) Manages outreach initiatives in assigned geographic regions, using knowledge about these areas to support prospective students and engage with high school counselors; Delivers IAP presentations at high schools in geographic areas; Assesses and executes changes to outreach initiatives; Supports other recruitment efforts, as identified; Manages the online application system and processes all incoming applications and supporting documents.Advising and Scholar Tracking (25%)Provides strategic, progressive and one-on-one advising to a caseload of students and identifies interventions and wraparound services to improve academic outcomes and support students holistically; Offers career preparatory strategies to enhance readiness for students’ chosen professional paths; Strategizes to support students through times of decision-making and transitions; Tracks IAP scholars’ program requirement completion and satisfactory academic progress.
