Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Plans, supervises, and coordinates the operations of the Quality Control department to ensure completion of department goals and beverage quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Directs the planning, strategic goals, and objectives of the Quality Control department.
  • Performs full range of managerial duties for employees supervised including coaching/counseling, hiring, terminating, and employee development.
  • Ensures that all syrups, ingredients, and product testing are preferred according to Pepsi-Cola North America guidelines.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory issues.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Facilitates department training for new hires.
  • Leads the plant's Food Safety Team and is the local resource for all regulatory and third-party audits and oversees the implementation and management of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field and five (5) years Quality Control experience, which includes two (2) years lab supervisory experience required. Must have college level chemistry experience. Must have Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's). Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Must be able to direct and motivate others. Must have good troubleshooting skills. Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment. The ability to multi-task and set priorities is required. Must pay close attention to details. Must be able to satisfactorily complete the Quality Leadership Training Program. Must be able to satisfactorily complete Forklift/Powered Industrial Truck Certification. Must be able to travel 10%. Must be able to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.

Diversified and complex job requiring continuous and sustained mental effort and alertness or very close work requiring constant visual attention.

Physical Functions

Frequently (34%-66%) required to walk and stand. Must occasionally (0%-33%) sit, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.

EQUIPMENT USED

Analytical Lab equipment, micro equipment, blending equipment, micro-blend, Forklift/ Powered Industrial Truck, Clean -In-Process (CIP) equipment, and computers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

Supervises a section or department of 6 to 12 persons.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English proficiently.
