Employment Status: Permanent, Full Time/Non-Exempt (40 hours/week). Occasional evening and weekend work required.
Location: New York City. 4 days in office/1 day remote, with regular travel within the five boroughs for community outreach and events
Annual Salary: $59,100/year

Position Overview
The Program Associate supports the NYC Community Interpreter Bank's training program, carrying the day-to-day work of trainee recruitment, community engagement, and event coordination. The role is the program's primary point of contact for prospective and current trainees, keeping recruitment, communications, and training logistics moving.
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, NYC Community Interpreter Bank, who oversees the program and sets its training standards, the Associate develops and executes outreach strategies to recruit interpreters into the CIB training program and to engage communities, particularly immigrant and underrepresented populations. The position is weighted toward hands-on outreach and coordination rather than program design.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Outreach, Recruitment and Community Engagement
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit trainees to become interpreters from immigrant and underrepresented communities across NYC.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the interpreter Bank at events, meetings, and community spaces.
  • Design and distribute multilingual outreach materials, flyers, and digital content.
  • Manage interpreter recruitment tracking, including interest forms, training calendars and schedules, and communications.
  • Support visibility of the Interpreter Bank through social media, newsletters, and the NYIC website.

Trainings, Events and Communications
  • Coordinate with training providers and subcontractors.
  • Manage logistics for interpreter trainings, workshops, graduation ceremonies, and other community-facing events.
  • Send regular updates and communications to interpreters about upcoming opportunities and deadlines.
  • Collect feedback from interpreters, partners, and participants to evaluate and improve outreach efforts.
  • Maintain organized records of recruitment and engagement metrics for reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Support the Community Programming team as needed.
  • Occasionally carries or moves materials weighing 50 pounds or less.

Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in outreach, community engagement, communications, or program coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including immigrant communities, grassroots organizations, and community leaders.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including experience creating outreach content for newsletters, social media, or public events.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and logistics at once.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, Google Workspace, Asana, or other project management and CRM software.
  • Experience planning trainings, events, and public programs.
  • Knowledge of language access laws, policies, and issues, and/or commitment to language justice.
  • Commitment to the mission of the New York Immigration Coalition
