The School of Dentistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Dental Assistant 2 to join their team.

About this Opportunity

The Department of Endodontics at the School of Dentistry is one of the premier clinical training programs for endodontists in the country. Our faculty, staff, and students have a teamwork approach to clinical care to ensure the patient has the best possible treatment experience.

The Dental Assistant 2, under general supervision, will perform expanded dental assistant duties such as chair-side assisting with various endodontics procedures; instruct graduate students and predoctoral students in expanded dental assistant duties, proper utilization of a dental assistant, instrument exchanges, and related functions and activities of a dental setting. Other duties may include ordering and inventory control, coordinating clerical activities, and activities for patient care in the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

Before Appointment 25%

  • Set up clinical units for endodontics procedures and the Endo Vac System.
  • Maintain endodontics specialty equipment.
  • Set up the overflow unit as an additional unit for endodontics procedures if needed.

During the Appointment 35%

  • Chairside assisting with various endodontic procedures including but not limited to root canal treatments (RCT anterior, RCT bicuspid, RCT molar with three canals), retreatment of previous root canal (anterior, bicuspid, and molar), apicoectomy (root-end resection), and intracoronal bleaching.
  • Assist with digital radiographs; operate water, air, and evacuating equipment.
  • Prepare and dispense extra materials and equipment for students as needed.
  • Deliver and set-up nitrous oxide and oxygen tanks weighing approx. 20-25 lbs.

After the Appointment 30%

  • Turnover and clean dental chairs between patient appointments.
  • Clean and maintain endodontics instruments and handpieces.
  • Sterilize dental instruments as needed.

Other 10%

  • Assist with inventory control for clinical supplies.
  • May perform all duties of a Dental Assistant 1.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Required Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited training program for dental assistants; AND current certification as a dental assistant (CDA) OR the ability to obtain same within six months; PLUS, two years of experience as a dental assistant. One year of additional dental assistant experience may substitute for required education.

Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager.

Legal Requirement

  • Registration with the State of Washington as a Dental Assistant.

Pay Range Minimum:

$45,432.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$59,484.00 annual
