JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: RESIDENTIAL AIDE

FLSA: NON-EXEMPT

DIVISION: SERVICES

REPORTS TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR

LOCATION: NYC

SALARY: $18.00 Hourly

SUMMARY:

The Residential/Program Aide assists with the client's basic needs. Individuals will work in conjunction with the social services team to monitor and provide appropriate basic services to individual clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform regular area inspections to ensure that shelter rules are adhered to
  • Monitor sitting areas, laundry rooms, and the cafeteria to ensure all clients are adhering to schedules and drop-in rules
  • Tracking locks for all lockers
  • Provide clients with locks, linen and toiletries
  • Remove contriband items from dorms and inform clients of shelter regulations.
  • Store and remove client property from the client storage/locker area
  • Maintain required documentation in case records in written and computer databases (CARES) and update the client’s records in accordance with governmental and agency policy.
  • Monitor sitting areas, laundry rooms, and cafeteria to ensure all clients are adhering to shelter rules
  • Complete intakes for new clients and provide orientation to the shelter program and DHS rules and regulations.
  • Collect client identification and other documents necessary during initial intake.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills and with cleaning areas, laundry, hygiene, etc.
  • Fill in for kitchen staff and maintenance staff when necessary
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • All duties as assigned


EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred. 1-year experience dealing with homeless or special needs population. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols
