Position Summary:

The Maintenance Laborer position is an entry-level position which requires motivation to learn and grow as a professional in the building and maintenance trades in a fast-paced manufacturing, retail and restaurant environment. ย Responsibilities include working with heavy machinery, including operating a forklift. Maintaining a clean, safe and functional work environment is critical in this role. All necessary training is provided.ย

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance as needed with support from other members of the maintenance team (e.g. changing filters, drain cleaning, shoveling, window cleaning, etc.).ย 
  • Empties trash and recycling from and throughout the facility into dumpsters.ย 
  • Helps ensure operation and maximizes uptime of the hydro turbine.
  • Periodically cleans floors, and uses floor cleaning machines.
  • Uses a forklift and material handling equipment on a daily basis.
  • Supportsย snow removal, lawn care and care of the landscaping.
  • Compliesย with safety regulations.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area.


Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ย Performs and learns basic building trades, in support of maintenance staff.
  • ย Performs occasional janitorial work.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Motivated to learn.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Using material handling equipment such as forklifts, hoists and pallet jacks, the employee will lift and move up to 2500 pounds at a time, safely.
  • Must be motivated and able to work independently.
  • Interest in and some experience in trades, such as painting, cleaning, carpentry or plumbing.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation.
  • GED required โ€“ High School Diploma preferred.
  • Ability to work some overtime hours and be on-call.
