Job description

WEBB is currently seeking a Professional Land Surveyor with experience in boundary survey analysis and resolution, to join our Land Survey and Mapping department! This will be an in-office position that also offers a hybrid work schedule. We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented professional who brings expertise in boundary analysis, record research, and legal documentation, and who is committed to technical excellence, mentorship, and life-long learning.
Salary range: $123,300-197,300

Responsibilities
  • Performs hands-on professional land surveying services, with experience preparing ALTA Surveys, boundary surveys, right-of-way maps, record of surveys, parcel maps, tract maps, legal descriptions and plats.
  • Conducts comprehensive research and analysis of deed records, maps, Records of Survey, tract and parcel maps, title reports, and other historical survey documents and records.
  • Applies sound professional judgment in the evaluation and weighing of boundary evidence, including record, occupational, and testimonial evidence for boundary determinations, and resolution of complex title and record conflicts
  • Prepares and reviews Records of Survey, boundary exhibits, legal descriptions, and associated mapping documents in compliance with applicable laws and agency standards
  • Provides technical leadership and oversight for boundary-related aspects of survey projects from initial research through final deliverables
  • Establishes boundary lines in accordance with the California Land Surveyors Act, Subdivision Map Act, case law, and accepted professional practices
  • Coordinates with project managers, clients, title companies, and public agencies regarding boundary issues, survey results, and mapping requirements
  • Reviews and interprets field survey data and integrates it with record information to produce accurate and defensible survey mapping
  • Provides QA/QC review of boundary surveys, legal descriptions, and mapping prepared by technical staff
  • Assists with the development and refinement of department standards, procedures, and best practices related to boundary surveying
  • Mentors and provides technical guidance to survey staff in boundary research, analysis, and documentation
  • Maintains clear, professional written and verbal communication with internal teams, clients, and agencies

Requirements
  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required
  • Demonstrated expertise in boundary evidence evaluation and boundary establishment procedures
  • Advanced working knowledge of the California Land Surveyors Act, Subdivision Map Act, and applicable survey case law
  • Experience preparing and interpreting legal descriptions, boundary exhibits, and public agency survey maps
  • Strong understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as applied to surveying principles and boundary analysis
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for boundary mapping and survey deliverables
  • Knowledge and experience in Trimble Business Center is a plus, not required
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply local agency standards, statutes, and mapping manuals
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple boundary-intensive assignments concurrently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain boundary interpretations and professional opinions.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a collaborative project team.
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity, professionalism, reliability, and commitment to teamwork
