Job description

POSITION INFORMATION
DGL is looking for an experience, well-rounded civil/structural engineer to enhance the qualifications of our rapidly expanding Development Division. As a multi-disciplinary engineering and survey firm, success in this position will require the ability to coordinate all aspects of a project beyond the structural discipline.
• Reports to Facility/Site Development Lead Engineer
• Full-time, Exempt
• 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferred
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to act as engineer of record in responsible charge of structural projects, as required.
• Perform and oversee structural design and plan production. Work closely with and instruct staff engineers and CAD technicians to prepare drawings and specifications in accordance with project requirements.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain communications, and expectations, with clients during project initiation, design, and construction phases.
• Coordinate with outside engineers and architects on project requirements.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, and respond to other construction questions.
• Encouraged to provide input and collaborate on implementation and improvement of DGL standards and procedures for continued improvement of project delivery and client experience.
• Engage in meetings with clients and technical organizations, as needed, to develop relationships and business opportunities in the local market.
SKILL SET
• Experience in structural steel, reinforced and unreinforced concrete, and in load bearing and non-load bearing masonry design. Timber and/or light-frame construction design experience is a plus.
• Recent experience with building codes and structural standards/regulations
• Current experience with either STAAD, RISA 3D or RAM Elements (RAM Elements preferred)
• Experience with AutoCAD required; experience with Revit preferred
• Must be well organized and maintain proficient time management
• Must conduct themselves with a professional demeanor
• Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Some tasks may require travel to complete. Time and mileage would be reimbursed (mileage at current Ohio Department of Transportation rates) based on current reimbursement policies.
• Ability to work on a variety of project sizes.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution 
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Ohio.
