Job description

CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer – Apache Flink & AWS position for our client.

Join a collaborative engineering team developing scalable, cloud-native applications and real‑time data processing solutions. We’re seeking an experienced Software Engineer with deep Apache Flink expertise who can serve as the team’s technical expert while contributing across AWS cloud infrastructure and modern microservices development. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in streaming data architectures, Kubernetes environments, and Agile development teams.

Location: San Antonio, TX or Plano, TX

Duration: Ongoing contract

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build and support Apache Flink pipelines for real‑time data processing and analytics.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for application integration.
  • Design and implement Kafka‑based streaming and messaging solutions.
  • Develop and deploy cloud‑native applications using AWS EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and Step Functions.
  • Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Build, deploy, and support containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Write unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests while troubleshooting production issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leaders, product managers, and cross‑functional stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
  • Serve as the team’s Apache Flink Subject Matter Expert, providing technical leadership on streaming data initiatives.
  • Support broader AWS cloud engineering efforts after Flink‑specific work is completed.
What We're Looking For
  • Expert‑level experience building and maintaining Apache Flink data pipelines.
  • Strong Java development experience with Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
  • Hands‑on AWS development experience with EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and Step Functions.
  • Experience developing applications in Golang.
  • Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud‑native application deployment.
  • Experience with Kafka and event‑driven architectures.
  • Proficiency with Git version control.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Production experience designing and supporting Apache Flink streaming applications.
  • Experience developing cloud‑native AWS solutions beyond Flink deployments.
  • Experience building scalable microservices and distributed systems.
  • Ability to serve as a technical leader while contributing across multiple cloud technologies.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
