The Army Soldier and Weapon Systems Department (N214) mission is to provide world class engineering workforce for combat, testing, and training capabilities to provide the U.S. Army an asymmetric advantage. The work programs leverage a diverse set of technical disciplines from within the Department and across the corporation to maximize our impact in solving some of the Army's toughest modernization challenges in the areas of systems engineering, agile software development, test and evaluation, digital engineering, autonomous systems, and training. Job Description: The Army Soldier and Weapons Systems Department is seeking a technically oriented Software Engineer with a strong interest or background in Systems Engineering. This role will support the modernization of Modeling and Simulation capabilities around Wargaming, Combat Effects, and Campaign Analysis for CPE ST3, DEVCOM Soldier Center, PAE Fires and other government organizations. Successful candidates will work with multiple disciplinary development and systems engineering teams to integrate complex capabilities and design robust simulation architectures. Roles and Responsibilities: * Apply expertise in Modeling, Simulation, and Software Engineering to develop, integrate, assess, and analyze advanced simulation capabilities for training, analysis, and mission planning/rehearsal.
* Work within multiple disciplinary development teams:
* Develop, make recommendations, and implement software engineering changes.
* Deliver strategy and recommendations to deliver optimal technical performance through the application of software engineering principles and best practices.
* Recognize technical challenges and work collaboratively with engineers to propose and deliver appropriate solutions.
* Prepare technical reports, document software designs, and assist in presenting technical findings to team members and sponsors.
* Foster collaborative, positive relationships with team members, government sponsors, and industry partners to achieve mission outcomes. Basic Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
* Experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., C++, Python, Rust, C#, or Java).
* Knowledge of Modeling and Simulation; Full-Stack Software Development; Agile Development; Software Development; and/or DevSecOps.
* Demonstrated ability and desire to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
* Experience in utilizing systems engineering and modern software best practices.
* Demonstrates collaboration and communication skills to support individual, team, and customer-related interaction.
* Critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills - comfortable working in dynamic settings where task objectives may evolve or need to be shaped, or creative solutions to task impediments must be identified.
* Effective interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to author technical reports, present briefings, and speak to audiences of all backgrounds.
* Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment, establish and leverage a diverse professional network, and integrate contributions from a variety of resources (people, tools, organizations).
* Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance. * This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site. Preferred Qualifications: * An advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Game Development.
* Active Secret clearance
* Experience with development of military simulations, including discrete event and Monte Carlo simulation techniques.
* Web application development experience, particularly for delivering simulation, visualization, or decision-support tools via modern web frameworks.
* Experience processing and integrating geospatial data into modeling and simulation environments.
* Hands-on skills in at least one and ideally multiple modern programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C/C++, C#, Python, Go, or Rust).
* Experience designing and optimizing 3D assets and workflows for game development, including creating models with industry-standard 3D tools and integrating them into real-time game engines.
* Understanding of Agile values and principles and how to apply them pragmatically in different contexts This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
