Position: Cash Transport / Unarmed Security Driver
Location: Based out of Springfield, IL
Schedule: Wed & Thu. Transport Driver Shifts Local Springfield Floater Shifts
Status: Part-Time

Position Overview
The Armed Security Guard / Cash Transport Specialist is primarily responsible for the secure, armed transport of currency and valuables between client locations. This role also serves as a "floater" guard, providing security services at various client sites during scheduled shifts. The guard's schedule, site assignments, and hours are subject to change based on transport routes, client needs, and staffing requirements. While SSPG strives to accommodate preferred schedules, flexibility is essential for the role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Secure Transport: Safely operate a vehicle to transport cash and valuables, maintaining constant vigilance and adhering to strict security protocols during transit and transfer.
  • Independent Operations: Work independently or as part of a two-person team to complete timed routes efficiently while maintaining communication with dispatch.
  • Floater Guard Services: Provide armed security at assigned client sites, ensuring the safety of personnel, premises, and assets during non-transport shifts.
  • Route Integrity: Follow designated routes and contingency plans; maintain a high level of situational awareness to identify and avoid potential threats or surveillance.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with clients and the public, ensuring all communications foster a secure environment.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all pick-ups, drop-offs, incidents, or vehicle irregularities, and promptly report them to leadership.
  • Asset Protection: Conduct regular patrols and monitor surveillance equipment when assigned to static sites. • Additional duties as assigned by Silver Star leadership team.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record (MVR check required).
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Ability to sit and operate a vehicle for long distances and extended periods.
  • Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Active PERC and FOID card required.
  • Valid firearms license (FCC) required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous armed security, military, or armored car experience highly preferred.
  • Strong situational awareness and extreme attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs (coin bags/valuable containers).
  • Capability to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.

Schedule and Availability
  • Base Location: This position is based out of Springfield, IL.
  • Primary Transport Routes:
    • Wednesday: Route from Springfield to the Schaumburg, IL area and return.
    • Thursday: Route from Springfield to the Grayville, IL area and return.
    • Every 3 Weeks: Extended route from Springfield to Lawrenceville, IL and return.
  • Floater Opportunities: In addition to the primary transport routes, the guard is eligible and encouraged to pick up floater guard shifts within the Springfield area to maximize hours.
  • Flexibility: Shifts and route times are subject to change based on client requirements. Candidates must be comfortable with long-distance driving and independent route management.
