POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Mechanic - District Plumber
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Mechanic Chief, the District Plumber is responsible for the following:.
  • Install, maintain, and repair pipes, fixtures, water heaters, drains, and other plumbing systems in schools and administrative buildings.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing problems, including leaks, clogs, broken pipes, and malfunctioning fixtures.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Respond to plumbing-related emergency service calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Read blueprints, building plans, and technical drawings to determine the layout of plumbing systems.
  • Ensure plumbing systems meet health and safety regulations and local/state plumbing codes.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in the plumbing trade.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed.
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and other maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Assist in planning and estimating plumbing projects and materials.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/APTITUDES/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proficient knowledge of plumbing codes, materials, and tools.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in safely operating plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Valid state plumbing license or journeyman certificate (preferred).
  • Backflow prevention certification (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record (required).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtractions, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, colleagues, community members, staff and students. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
