About The Role:

As a Carriage Tour Guide, you will:

  • Showcase Charleston's fascinating history, architecture, and culture while providing an engaging historic tour or haunted tour.
  • Answer guests' questions about Charleston's history, dining, and attractions, ensuring they enjoy their visit beyond their experience with us
  • Drive our beautiful draft horses safely through the historic streets of Charleston
  • Deliver an exceptional experience by combining accurate historical knowledge with your charisma and storytelling skills

Old South Carriage Co offers two different tours, 1 hour Historic Tours or 40 minute Haunted Tours. New tour guides can get trained for either one of these tours, or both, depending on their interests and scheduling availability.

Historic Carriage Tour Guides give 1 hour historic tours between 9am- 5pm EST and have a 30+ minute break in between tours. on average a full day of touring will be 4-6 tours and scheduling is flexible.

Haunted Carriage Tour Guides give 40 minute haunted tours between 4:30pm-10:30pm EST and have a 20+ minute break in between tours. on average a full evening of touring will be 4-6 tours and scheduling is flexible.

Our top earning tour guides are capable of giving both Historic and Haunted tours in beautiful downtown Charleston!

Requirements

What We're Looking For:

  •  A confident, engaging personality with a flair for storytelling.
  • A passion for history, culture, and working with animals.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  • Equestrian experience is a plus, but we will train the right candidate.
  • General open availability for giving tours weekly
  • Applicants must be able to stand and balance on board moving vehicle
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Pass pre-employment Drug Test

Benefits

  • Industry-leading pay (Starting pay: $35-$40 per tour, plus tips). Our pay is considered the highest in this market. Guides are placed on a progressive per tour wage plus receive excellent cash tips from our guests.
