Professional Hunting information

What is a professional hunter?

A professional hunter is someone who is licensed and skilled in tracking, pursuing, and harvesting wild game, often for commercial purposes such as guiding clients on hunting expeditions or managing wildlife populations. These professionals must understand animal behavior, safety protocols, ethical hunting practices, and often local laws and regulations. Their work may include guiding clients, tracking wildlife, maintaining equipment, and sometimes helping with conservation efforts. Professional hunters typically work in remote or rural areas and may be self-employed or work for safari companies, ranches, or government agencies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a professional hunter?

To thrive as a Professional Hunter, you need expert knowledge of wildlife, tracking, firearm safety, and local hunting regulations, often backed by relevant licenses and certifications. Familiarity with GPS navigation, ballistics software, and hunting equipment maintenance is typically required. Strong decision-making, ethical judgment, and effective communication with clients and team members are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure safe, legal, and successful hunting operations while maintaining client satisfaction and conservation standards.

What are some common challenges professional hunters face when working in the field, and how are they addressed?

Professional hunters often encounter challenges such as unpredictable weather, difficult terrain, and ensuring strict adherence to local wildlife laws and ethical hunting standards. Effective preparation, including scouting locations and understanding animal behaviors, helps mitigate these issues. Additionally, professional hunters typically work closely with landowners, guides, and conservation officers to ensure safe and responsible hunting practices, while ongoing training and experience allow them to adapt to changing field conditions.

What is the difference between Professional Hunting vs Professional Wildlife Management?

AspectProfessional HuntingProfessional Wildlife Management
CredentialsOften requires hunting licenses, certifications in firearm safety, and sometimes specialized hunting permitsRequires wildlife biology or management degrees, certifications in conservation and habitat management
Work EnvironmentOutdoor, hunting grounds, private or public landsWildlife reserves, parks, conservation areas, research facilities
Employer & IndustryPrivate hunting outfitters, game farms, outdoor recreation companiesGovernment agencies, conservation organizations, environmental consultancies

Professional Hunting focuses on the pursuit and harvesting of game animals, often for recreation or population control, requiring licenses and outdoor skills. In contrast, Professional Wildlife Management emphasizes conservation, habitat preservation, and research, typically requiring biological expertise. Both roles are vital in the industry but serve different purposes related to wildlife and land use.

Do professional hunters make good money?

Professional hunters can earn varying incomes depending on their experience, location, and the type of hunting they conduct. Typically, they charge fees for guiding clients, which can range from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars per hunt, but overall earnings are often seasonal and variable. Success in this field also depends on skills, certifications, and reputation.

How can I become a professional hunter?

To become a professional hunter, you typically need to gain experience in hunting and wildlife management, often through working with licensed hunting guides or conservation organizations. Certification or licensing requirements vary by region and may include passing safety courses, obtaining permits, and demonstrating knowledge of hunting laws and ethical practices.

Based on 18 frontline employees who took The Breakroom Quiz

Job description

ShipMonk isn't just a 3PL — we're the tech-powered growth partner for ecommerce brands, running 12+ owned fulfillment centers across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe so our merchants can stress less and grow more.

Enterprise Fulfillment Consultant

Location: Remote or onsite at a ShipMonk office — Fort Lauderdale, FL; Fort Worth, TX; Louisville, KY; Pittston, PA; or Las Vegas, NV

Reports To: Senior Vice President of Sales

ShipMonk is one of the fastest-growing names in eCommerce fulfillment, and the biggest, most complex deals in the market are ours to win. If you thrive on the hunt for marquee accounts, love a hard-fought negotiation, and want uncapped upside in a category that isn't slowing down, this is your seat.

This is a full-cycle, high-impact closing role for hunters who want ownership of large, multi-stakeholder deals from first call to signed contract, backed by a company that invests heavily in the tools, team, and brand that make winning easier. We're going after the biggest names in Apparel, Health & Beauty, and Supplements, and we're building a team purpose-built to play to win at the enterprise level. We're adding to this team because of our continued success in the market.

The company behind you

When you walk into the room, you're representing a category leader enterprise buyers already want to hear from:

  • 3M+ sq ft across 12+ fulfillment centers on three continents
  • $365M in growth funding, 2,300+ team members globally, bootstrapped and profitable with real stability behind your paycheck
  • Business of the Year (South Florida Business Journal), Deloitte Technology Fast 500, and multi-year Inc. 5000. ShipMonk is a brand that opens doors
  • Proprietary technology: our AI-powered platform gives merchants a real-time, unified view of inventory and orders. It's the control and visibility sophisticated buyers demand at scale
  • Committed to the future: we invest over $10 million annually in R&D, so our technology and services keep evolving for the merchants who plant roots with us
  • Already fulfilling for brands you know: Dr. Squatch, LiquidIV, Nutrafol, Arctic Cool, Create Wellness

What you'll do:

Own the full sales cycle

Run point on every stage of complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals, from first conversation to signature. Deliver sharp, solution-oriented presentations built around real pain points across procurement, operations, and executive stakeholders, negotiate service agreements with confidence, and close new business with urgency and professionalism.

Hunt and win big deals

Generate and qualify enterprise opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and account-based strategy, and work hand in hand with a dedicated SDR team feeding you meetings so your calendar stays full of the right conversations. Build a pipeline of marquee accounts aligned with our ideal customer profile, and keep deals moving forward.

Win trust fast

Establish and grow relationships across multiple stakeholders and decision-makers, representing ShipMonk's brand and our get-sh*t-done mindset at every step. Become the person enterprise buyers trust to get their supply chain right.

Solve real problems

Dig into complex, enterprise-level operational challenges and creatively position ShipMonk's platform to solve them at scale. Think fast, act decisively, and keep deals moving forward even when the path isn't a straight line.

Master the product

Know ShipMonk's services and solutions cold, and present them in a way that makes the value obvious to sophisticated buying committees. Stay sharp on pricing, the competitive landscape, and what makes ShipMonk different.

Support and Resources

You are not doing this alone. We invest in a full support system built for enterprise selling, so you spend your time closing, not scrambling.

  • A dedicated SDR team: reps sourcing and qualifying meetings so your pipeline stays full without you doing all the prospecting yourself
  • A solutions team: partners with you on enterprise technical scoping, tour support, and solution design throughout complex deal cycles
  • A pricing team: quoting support, margin analysis, and competitive deal structuring so every proposal is priced to win and built to close
  • Marketing that warms the door: brand awareness, content, and campaigns that drive inbound demand and give you warmer doors to knock on
  • A partnerships network: a growing network of strategic partners and referral sources bringing warm, pre-qualified introductions straight to your pipeline
  • Reference customers: a deep bench of happy clients across categories, ready to speak to why they chose and stayed with ShipMonk

Your toolkit

We've built a modern, automated tech stack that takes the busywork off your plate so you can focus on what actually moves deals: selling.

  • End-to-end sales stack: a connected stack covering research, prospecting, RFP management, and pipeline management, so nothing falls through the cracks
  • Contact databases: direct access to contact and account databases to build target lists and get to the right person fast
  • AI-powered selling: built-in AI tools that draft outreach, summarize calls, and handle the administrative grind, so you get hours back every week
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator: a company-provided subscription to prospect, research accounts, and build relationships where your buyers already are
  • Automation that lightens the load: workflows across the sales process that cut manual data entry and admin, so more of your day goes to selling

What you'll need:

We hire proven closers. If you've won big, complex deals and you want a bigger stage with real support behind you, keep reading.

  • 5+ years of enterprise sales, business development, or account executive experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally in the Fulfillment or Logistics industry
  • A proven track record of winning large, complex, multi-stakeholder deals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders
  • High proficiency navigating CRMs (Salesforce preferred) and sales engagement tools
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • The ability to think analytically, negotiate complex service agreements, and adapt to a dynamic environment
  • A collaborative team player with a strong sense of business acumen
  • Passionate, energetic, and driven to exceed goals
  • Willingness to be onsite up to 5 days per week at a ShipMonk fulfillment center
  • The ability to travel up to 25% of the time for property tours, client meetings, and site visits

Why this role

  • Real impact: land marquee, enterprise-level clients and fuel ShipMonk's global expansion
  • Uncapped upside: sell with no caps, real support, and a modern toolkit built to help you win big deals
  • A category leader: represent a fast-growing industry leader in 3PL fulfillment, not just another vendor
  • A team that backs you: join a passionate, high-performing sales team with strong leadership support
  • Room to grow: real opportunity for career advancement in a rapidly scaling organization

Working at ShipMonk

  • Best-in-class comp: a competitive base salary paired with uncapped commission and performance accelerators that pay you more the bigger you win. No caps on any given deal. (OTE $400K. Salary paid weekly, commissions paid monthly)
  • Flexible PTO plus 7 paid US holidays
  • Generous company 401(k) matching
  • Merit reviews that reward results
  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental
  • A casual, upbeat, inclusive culture where you can be yourself and still Get Sh*t Done

Our core values

  • Merchant-first: we handle the logistics so our merchants can focus on growing their business
  • People make ShipMonk: we believe in our team and invest in our people
  • Own it: we take ownership of our work, our mistakes, and our wins
