Child Advocate
Isabel's House - Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks, Inc.
Location: Springfield, MO
Position Type: Non-Exempt | Shift Work Required (including every other weekend)
Schedule: The Child Advocate position offers a set schedule determined by employee prior to start date. Child Advocates are required to work every other weekend to ensure staffing for 24/7 care.
Hours: 1:45 PM- 10:15 PM
Isabel's House is seeking compassionate, trauma-informed, responsible individuals to join our team as Child Advocates. In this role, you'll provide daily care and supervision to children in crisis, helping create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.
What You'll Do
As a Child Advocate, you will:
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and non-judgmental environment for children and families
  • Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate, therapeutic, and educational activities
  • Support children with homework, play, and daily routines
  • Implement developmentally appropriate practices and therapeutic curriculum
  • Follow agency policies, licensing regulations, and approved behavior guidance techniques
  • Maintain required child-to-staff ratios at all times
  • Accurately complete documentation and daily logs
  • Assist with household responsibilities, including cleaning, laundry, and organization
  • Communicate safety concerns or policy issues immediately to supervisors
  • Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings (background checks, drug test, TB screening, references)
  • Valid Missouri driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of insurance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of experience working with children in a childcare or residential setting
  • Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and professional in a fast-paced environment
